The Camargue (Rhône Delta), Languedoc, South of France

The Camargue is an enormous area of salt marshes that stretch from Languedoc into Provence. It is famed for its wild horses, and is a great place to go horse riding. (from: Tourist Information for the Languedoc-Roussillon region, South of France)


Espiguette, in the Camargue, is said to be Europe's longest beach and is backed by sand dunes. It is a little difficult to find and a bit of a walk from the car park, but worth it for its beauty and peacefulness. (from: The best beaches and bars)

Le Somail


Le Somail is a hamlet in the Aude department of southwestern France.
Le Somail is located along the Canal du Midi.


In the 17th century, the town was the resting place for passengers on the mail barge operating between Toulouse and Agde.
